Welcome March!

March is finally here! I can really start to feel spring in the air… minus the fact that it started snowing during my long ride, but who doesn’t love an additional challenge.

First… let me start with exciting news; I’m an All American! I achieved the honor of being an All American by ranking in the top 5% of my age group in duathlon by USAT. And, out of the entire US I finished my season for 2012 ranking 3rd in my age group! So 2013 has got to be BIG. And I’ve got some big plans within the next couple of posts.

This past weekend held something very new in the essence of fitness in my life…

CROSSFIT

That’s right, I burpee’d, row’d, sprinted, tossed the good ol’ medicine ball, and did some h.r.p.u’s (hand release push-up’s, if you didn’t know what those were don’t worry, I just learned on Saturday). I’ve always been hesitant about crossfit, since I already spend enough time being active, but I got to go with one of my best friends. She’s always raving about her gym, so I decided I’d give it a shot. Plus, the best way to try something new is always with a friend! Saturday just happened to be partner workout day, and there was a lot of running so it turned out to be my luck day. The staff and members at Crossfit Ulster were all extremely friendly and motivating. The next time I’m up in Ulster County, NY, I’m definitely going to try to get a workout in there.

Let’s hope the warm weather gets here on the double! I’ve got a race planned for the end of March and I need to get in some more outdoor riding!

I’ve been really wanting to try Crossit – it’s a little intimidating but from what I hear it’s basically a requirement for cross fit gyms to be super welcoming and encouraging. Perhapsss!
