A blizzard, TT, and adventuring to an abandoned mine

So… if you’re living on the east coast, you know that last week it looked like this…
I must say that even though the snow is beautiful, I’ve had enough! I’m tired of having to ride my bike indoors on the trainer, or go to the gym and run on the treadmil. Needless to say, I prevailed! I ended up riding my bike indoors over the weekend (the roads were covered with salt which would mean I would have to spend countless hours cleaning my bike :-/), hopefully for the last time.
Next came the time change…
Which left me extremely sleep deprived on Sunday, but I had big plans to go on a road trip so I had to get it together. I got in my 10 miler and baked some awesome vegan blueberry scones, then it was time to go on an adventure… The Widow Jane Mine! This mine is located in Rosendale, NY, which is actually the home of several abandoned cement mines.
The cement from this mine was used in various structures around NYC, such as the base of the Brooklyn Bridge and the platform of the Statue of Liberty. I highly recommend checking it out. Because the mine has such amazing acoustics, its also been the home to some summer music events. Hopefully they this summer they have some events in this mine, and if they do, I’ll make sure I’m sitting in the front row!
As for this week, I’m not sure what it will bring. Of course, training and more outdoor activities, and the return of a best friend!
