About Me
Hi!
I’m Zuri, and I’m duathlete / runner, residing in the Hudson Valley region of New York. I’ve been an athlete pretty much my entire life. I started competing in kid’s running races when I was about 7 years old. With that being said… let’s face it, I’m competitive! Whether it’s: “I’ll race you to the car!” or, “I bet you can’t eat all of that!” Funny phrases like these get my competitive fire roaring and then… ITS ON!
I jumped on the multi-sport band wagon in 2010, after being plagued with numerous injuries during my college xc and track career. Once I got back on the right track, 2012 brought me to not only the Duathlon National Championships in Tucson, AZ, where I qualified for the Duathlon World Championships, in Nancy, France.
While I’m not accepting challenges from my friends such as: “I wonder how much coffee we can drink?” or “How fast do you think we can hike up this mountain?” I also enjoy: relaxing at local coffee shops, mountain biking, knitting, snowboarding, hiking, foreign films, baking, long boarding… and pretty much anything that involves being outside.
I’ve been plant powered athlete for the past 7 years of my life. I’m going to admit that for the first year, being in college and eating a plant-based diet was almost impossible. I used to live on bagels, coffee, pasta, and oreos (notice I didn’t mention any fruits or vegetables!). Things have come a VERY long way since then.
I live life day by day, but am always moving forward. Striving for excellence. After all, who doesn’t want to look back at their life knowing that they were the very best that they could be?
