Great News!

Based on my USAT national rankings for 2012, I have automatically qualified for the 2013 Duathlon World Championship in Ottawa, Canada, in August.

AHHHH 😀

I received the great news on Tuesday evening while I was out jogging around town. I’ve been checking my email non-stop for the past 2 weeks waiting for the decision from USAT. During those 2 weeks while I was waiting for an answer, I’d been mentally preparing myself not only to race in Alabama to qualify for World’s, but also for the 14 hour drive that I was possibly going to do alone. You might be thinking to yourself, ‘why don’t you just fly there? why drive?’ Well… from a financial standpoint, it would be more cost effective to drive. Flying with a bike is not cheap!

So… I’m out running and I decide to stop and look at my phone. I must say that when I read the email it was like a scene out of a movie… I was in the middle of an open field, the sun was setting over a mountain, and great song came on my iPod… I stop to check my phone briefly and decide to look at my emails… A slight breeze blows through my hair, and that’s when i read the words… “CONGRATULATIONS!” I literally jump for joy! I cried a tear of happiness, and screamed out loud “YES! (pumps fist)” (Remember I’m outside in the middle of a field by myself, so no one can see how crazy I look throughout my realization of awesomeness)

I ran home with sheer pep in my step, and very proud of myself.

Another 2013 goal I can cross of my list.
